When designing collections, I like to arrange patterns so either they are large, medium or small in scale but I also like to create patterns that can pass as a solid. This is how Sydney was born. I created a very small scale pattern so from afar it would look solid. After creating the ornate pattern, I stood back and realized it needed something to add interest. I added painterly lines.
